Showcasing an Equity-Focused Solution through “The Barefoot Social Worker” Program in China

This series of talks provided the history of the Barefoot Social Worker initiative in China, and showcased the bottlenecks,  lessons learned and efforts to put in place a policy framework to scale up the initiative nationwide.

Speakers included:

  • Professor Huang Xiaoyan, from the Department of Social Work and Social Policy in the Zhou Enlai School of Government of Nankai University.
  • Dr. Wang Zhenyao, from the Beijing Normal University China Philanthropy Research Institute
  • Mr. Li, Zhengchuan, the Child Welfare Director in Guangbai Village in Yunnan Province
  • Mr. Xu Jianzhong, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Social Welfare and Charity Promotion of the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs.
