Copenhagen Activate Talk: The Future of Product Innovation

UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen held an Activate Talk on November 20th to mark the 25th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Moderated by Ida Ebbensgaard, a leading journalist on the Danish television, the event brought together three international voices in health and development who shared their share their views on how people, products and processes can make a more equitable world for children.  We are proud to introduce our panel of experts:


  • Cansu Akarsu is an industrial designer at Laerdal Global Health, and gave insight into how innovation and innovative designs from developing countries are making an impact on products for children.  She focused on how end-users are essential not only in informing the innovation process, but inspiring the ideas.


  • Michel Jose Zaffran, the World Health Organization, is the Coordinator, Expanded Programme on Immunization.  He talked about new vaccines, new devices, and how integrated approaches to health will impact the future of vaccines and immunization programs


  • Zachary Katz, Clinton Health Access Initiative, is the Director, Diagnostic Services focused on innovations that will bring laboratory results and decisions closer to the patient and what this means in how in the treatment of infectious disease.
